Marcelo Out of Brazil Friendlies
Brazil left-back Marcelo has pulled out of October friendlies against Saudi Arabia and Argentina due to an injury to his right calf.
Brazil’s team doctor Rodrigo Lasmar has been in close contact with Marcelo’s club, Real Madrid, in recent days.
The two medical teams have agreed that Marcelo will not be fit to play and he has been excused for the matches in Riad, Saudi Arabia.
Brazil will play Saudi Arabia on Friday, followed by the Superclasico das Américas against Argentina on Tuesday.
Seleção selection co-ordinator Edu Gaspar confirmed the news on Wednesday. Filipe Luis has been called up as Marcelo’s replacement.
