Liverpool ‘Have To Accept’ Alisson Blunder, Says Schmeichel
Leicester goalkeeper Kasper Schmeichel says that Alisson’s mistake that cost his side a goal in Saturday’s 2-1 win over Leicester is a natural consequence of his style that Liverpool will have to accept.
The Reds’ goalkeeper was caught dwelling on the ball by Foxes striker Demari Gray in the penalty area, allowing Leicester to set up a tense finale, with Liverpool holding on for the 2-1 victory.
Leicester ‘keeper Schmeichel looked on from the goal at the other end, but he says the error comes with the territory, with Alisson renowned for taking risks with the ball at his feet to help build play.
“Of course, he’s been fantastic in the first three games and of course for Roma as well,” he said. The style Liverpool play, without knowing it exactly, I think they encourage the keeper to take chances to keep possession like Ederson does for Manchester City.
“They encourage them and when you do that you have to accept mistakes are sometimes made – just as with outfield players.”
