Manchester City Players Spared, but Fabinho and Andreas Pereira Called As Tite Names Brazil Squad

Tite named a young and experimental squad for Brazil’s friendlies against the USA and El Salvador this weekend. All four of Manchester City’s players from the World Cup- Ederson, Danilo, Fernandinho and Gabriel Jesus- have all been spared.

Liverpool’s Fabinho is called into the squad for the first time since Tite took over, while Roberto Firmino, Alisson and Willian are all selected. Tite has also selected a crop of young players as Brazil prepare for a new international cycle.

Everton (Grêmio), Dedê (Cruzeiro), Felipe (Porto), Arthur (Barcelona), Lucas Paquetá (Flamengo), Pedro (Fluminense) and Hugo (Flamengo) are all called for the first time. Manchester United midfielder Andreas Pereira also earns a first call up.

Meanwhile, first team stalwarts João Miranda, Marcelo, Gabriel Jesus, Fernandinho and Danilo have all been spared, while Dani Alves is injured. Technical director Edu Gaspar says Brazil will use the next 3 friendly rounds to experiment with the squad, before turning focus to Copa América in the New Year.

Full squad; Alisson, Neto, Hugo, Fágner, Fabinho, Thiago Silva, Marquinhos, Dedê, Alex Sandro, Filipe Luis, Casemiro, Felipe, Fred, Arthur, Andreas Pereira, R.Augusto, Coutinho, Everton, Lucas Paquetá, Douglas Costa, Willian, Neymar, Pedro, Firmino.
