Brazil winger Willian says he has been improving in each game during the World Cup. Brazil are into the World Cup quarter-final where they will play Belgium on Friday.

The Chelsea man was a key part of the 2-0 win over Mexico in the round of 16, setting up the opener for Neymar with a low cross.

“I’ve been improving with every game. If you start taking it easy, then you end up losing your place,” he told FIFA.com, “I knew it wasn’t going to be a natural process.

“It’s important for us to be able to play without the ball. We did that really well as a team, and we defended well.

“When we do that it makes everything easier, because we know how much quality we’ve got up front. We have players who can settle games in an instant.”

Willian has picked up the nickname ‘O Foguetinho’ (the little rocket) given his energetic performances. It’s a moniker he appreciates.

“The coaching staff have been calling me by that nickname and to be honest I’m delighted with it. It sums up the way I play.”
