Brazil winger Douglas Costa will miss Wednesday’s Group E showdown with Serbia due to a thigh injury. It is unclear when the player picked up the injury.
Costa was a half time substitute, during Brazil’s 2-0 win over Costa Rica on Friday, coming on for Willian with the scores locked at 0-0.
The Juventus man made a positive impact from the bench as the Seleção eventually toiled to a 2-0 victory with stoppage time goals from Philippe Coutinho and Neymar.
But a thigh injury will certainly keep him out of Wednesday’s game and Brazil doctor Rodrigo Lesmar has not given him a return date.
Danilo will also miss the Serbia game. He missed the Costa Rica with a muscle complaint, so Fágner will continue to deputise at right-back, with Dani Alves unavailable too.
