Brazil midfielder Renato Augusto has admitted that he lost a little bit of form, which he partially attributes to some weight gain, which has led to him losing his place in the Seleção starting eleven.

Renato was an important cog in Tite’s midfield, but recently, Philippe Coutinho and Fernandinho have been preferred.

Augusto’s build-up to the tournament has been affected by injury, though the player says that he was not badly injured.

“I found that last year was below my level, I came on a very high level, but I had a weight problem and I ended up losing an important part of my preparation.

“But I'm feeling good, 100%, and when I am needed I'll be available.” He was a second half substitute in Brazil’s 1-1 draw with Switzerland on Sunday evening.

“I was training normally with the group two weeks ago. I didn’t play in the Austria game, but that doesn’t mean I wasn’t still training.”
