Tite Still Wants Brazil Improvement After 3-0 Austria Victory
Brazil coach Tite says his side still have room for improvement following their comprehensive 3-0 victory over Austria in Vienna. The Seleção begin their World Cup campaign against Switzerland on Sunday.
Despite a 100% record with no goals conceded in 2018, Tite still says his team has some gears to go through before the tournament gets under way. “We are constantly challenged. This generates the expectation that you have to play well every time.
“We challenge ourselves to be always better and this raises the level of the individual and collective. If the way we work is sometimes it causes a lot of contact, we make the pitch smaller, but the accelerations are bigger.
“Maybe if we had opted for light training we would not have hurt Fred, maybe not Renato Augusto. But the price of excellence is high turnover and fortunately the two are well.” Tite was nonetheless very happy with his players in Vienna.
“I was very happy. I spoke at half-time and I will speak at the end of the game. I feel extremely proud. We had the ability to concentrate, the team made only 8 fouls. We had possession of ball resulting in goalscoring opportunities.
“We had room to score a few more, perhaps. We have a team with individual quality, with a tight unit that marks well and a game before the world cup that can unconsciously draw concentration and confidence.”
