Brazil coach Tite says that Neymar was the difference for Brazil, after their 2-0 friendly win over Croatia at Anfield on Sunday. Neymar was a second half substitute and opened the scoring with a fine solo goal.

Croatia more than matched Brazil during an even first half, but the introduction of Neymar, returning after a four month absence from a foot injury, changed the game for the Seleção after half time.

“It was a high level game from both teams, the technical quality of both teams is very high. You appreciate when you see Modric, Neymar, Fernandinho, Coutinho that it will be a good show. Croatia made it difficult with strong marking.

“In the second half we kept the pace and made the goal thanks to the participation of Neymar, which was planned. He is different, but we cannot only give him the responsibility to decide games. I am very happy for him.”

Tite also reserved praise for Danilo, who stepped in for the injured Dani Alves at right-back, “He played well. The defensive cover actions bordered on perfection. We don’t need him to bring the skills Marcelo brings, because nobody has those skills, but he played very well.”
