Manchester City goalkeeper Ederson says he is proud that he has been able to show his value to the club this season and admitted that his transfer fee created pressure for him.

The Brazilian arrived from Benfica last summer to replace Claudio Bravo in the City goal, for a cool £37m. But Ederson says that the team’s success has vindicated him.

He also confessed that the large transfer fee created intense scrutiny for him, but he feels he has been able to rise to the challenge.

“I am very happy to be a champion, because I have always dreamed of playing in the Premier League and I had the opportunity to make this wish this year,” he told ESPN Brasil.

“I arrived with a heavy weight because my transfer was very expensive and there were a lot of doubts in some English newspapers, but I was able to show my value."
