Danilo Urges City Fans to Get Behind Team for Liverpool Clash
Manchester City full-back Danilo has urged Manchester City fans to forget the disappointment of Saturday’s derby defeat to Manchester United and get behind the team in Tuesday’s Champions League clash against Liverpool.
City trail 3-0 after a first leg onslaught at Anfield and will need to attack when Liverpool come to the Etihad and the Brazilian believes the home crowd has a big part to play in attempting to overturn that deficit.
“Well, without doubt the atmosphere, the feeling, is of sadness, of disappointment," Danilo said of the dressing room after Saturday’s derby defeat to United, where City blew a two goal half time lead to lose 3-2.
"We started the game really well, but we must return to the pitch as soon as possible because on Tuesday we have another big challenge to overcome a result. Without any doubt [the City fans were great]. We need to thank them all.
“Not just for Saturday but all the season, but especially the atmosphere they created today was amazing. They helped us until the last minute and I am sure they could help us a lot against Liverpool if they are able to create that atmosphere again and try to help us to overcome the result."
