‘Now Is The Time for Experience’ Says Fernandinho
Manchester City midfielder Fernandinho has called on his side’s experienced players to step up as City seek to overturn a 3-0 deficit against Liverpool in the Champions League quarter-final 2 nd leg at the Etihad.
The 32 year old admits that the team are reeling from recent defeats to Liverpool and Manchester United, but he insists that it is up to the more experienced members of the squad to help guide the team.
“Of course it was a tough week for us - two defeats in a row. But we have to focus on tomorrow night’s game and the only way to play good football is to have a strong mentality.
“Now is the time for the experienced players to take over, be in charge, stay in front of the group and to keep spirits high.
“We are so close to becoming champions and we want to go through in the #UCL. It won’t be easy but we want to fight for that.
“We've played Liverpool three times. We beat them at home 5-0 and we play a good game that day. At Anfield in the Premier League, it was three goals in ten minutes, a nightmare for us.
“In the Champions League we conceded three goals. But any game has its own history. Tomorrow we must be together - the fans, the players, the staff. That’s my faith. We have to be together and fight until the end.”
