Firmino Moved to Tears by Liverpool Atmosphere

Liverpool striker Roberto Firmino says that the atmosphere generated by the Kop moved him
to tears, as the Reds took a commanding 3-0 first leg lead over Manchester City in their
Champions League quarter-final clash.
The Reds roared into a 3 goal lead inside the first half an hour, with Anfield at its most
cacophonous throughout. The Liverpool team bus was welcomed to the stadium with flares
and a bevy of noisy Liverpool fans.
“When we were on the bus, I was reading about how the reception was going to be. I must
say, it filled my eyes full of tears! It was very moving for me. It only gives us more strength to
fight on the field and win the games,” the player told ESPN Brasil.
Goals from Mohammed Salah, Alex Oxlade Chamberlain and Sadio Mané saw Liverpool win
the tie 3-0, with the second leg to be played at City next week. But Firmino warned that the
tie is not over yet.
“I think we played really well,’ Firmino continued. ‘We had a great game, we scored and kept
the clean sheet, which is important. ‘But as I said, we haven’t won the tie yet, we have to
keep focused.”
