Renato Augusto Braced for Brazil Battle
Brazil midfielder Renato Augusto says he is ready to fight his way back into Tite’s starting XI. The player did not feature in the March friendlies against Russia and Germany, with Coutinho and then Fernandinho preferred to him.
Renato plays for Beijing Guoan in China, whose league season has only just started, so Tite took the opportunity to experiment with other options during wins over Russia and Germany. But the ex-Leverkusen midfielder is ready to fight for his place.
“I know my importance within the group, so the important thing is to be physically fit, to keep training well, and to play well if Tite needs to be ready to help the team,” Renato told Brasil Global Tour.
"I have to work for that, to be in the squad for the World Cup and then turn up and fight for a place for a place in the team. We have players of great quality, some really great names, but I will always fight for my space."
Tite will name his final World Cup squad in late May, after which the Seleção will play friendlies against Croatia and Austria in early June.
