Benitez Praises ‘Not Scared’ Kenedy
Newcastle boss Rafa Benitez had special praise for Robert Kenedy, as the Brazilian teed up Ayoze Perez for the Magpies’ match winner against Huddersfield Town on Saturday.
Kenedy’s unselfish cut back allowed the Spaniard to fire home a precious winner for Newcastle, who move six points clear of the relegation zone as a result.
Benitez says that Kenedy’s lack of fear on the ball is a big reason for the positive contribution he has made since joining on loan from Chelsea in January.
“With him, when he has the ball, we know he is a Brazilian player who likes to play. He’s not scared on the ball, and that’s a big difference,” he told the Newcastle Chronicle.
“Sometimes, you are in a rush or under pressure or the excitement doesn’t allow you to think clearly, but with him, you know you have that.
“He has scored goals, given assists and the composure for the pass, that was the key.” Both the player and club are reported to be keen to make his loan move permanent in the summer.
