Brazil centre half Thiago Silva was delighted with his side’s 1-0 friendly win over Germany in Berlin on Tuesday evening and insisted that the Seleção are regaining respect after a strong run of form over the last two years.
Gabriel Jesus’ first half header was enough to see off Germany and 31 year old Silva suggested that the victory will help Brazil regain some of the respect they lost after their 7-1 thrashing at the hands of Germany on home soil in the 2014 World Cup.
“With all respect to Germany, this shirt deserves a little more respect. We were happy with this result against a great team," he said. "We are on the right path with humility, discipline. What we demonstrated was something more.
“It helps us more and more if we establish the style of game that we intended to. After four months we have started again after a long period without games. Today, despite the difficulties, we played well.
Brazil have only conceded 5 goals since Tite took over as manager in September 2016. “What is happening is extraordinary,” Thiago explained. “No moment of difficulty is permanent, we are ready to rise again at every moment. I'm happy with these two top-level games.”
