Brazil centre half João Miranda says that it is the ideal time for the Seleção to face Germany. The teams face off tonight in a friendly in Berlin. It’s the first time the teams have met since the World Cup semi-final in Belo Horizonte in 2014.

The Germans famously ran out 7-1 winners on that occasion and the Inter centre-half acknowledges that there will be a lot of talk about that game, but insists this is the perfect time for Brazil to confront those ghosts.

“I think this is the ideal time to face them,” Miranda told a press conference in Berlin. “We have that trust now and our heads are in the right place. It is inevitable there will be talk about the 7-1, but we have to learn lessons from everything in life.

“Let's remain quiet and focus on trying to play our game. Tite is spectacular in these types of situation.” Miranda was not a member of the squad in 2014, but he has since become a first choice pick in the starting XI.

“I get that feeling (that I should have played in 2014) because I was very well prepared but, at the same time, I accept that it was not meant to be. Things do not happen by chance. Today, I'm even more prepared and experienced, and I'm sure I can help the Seleção.”
