Brazil coach Tite insists that the door is not closed on any player as he continues to make his plans for this summer’s World Cup. The Seleção boss is still experimenting with squad players, with 18 of his places already decided.

The coach was able to give the likes of Pedro Geromel, Taíson, Fágner and Fred some minutes in the closing stages of his side’s 3-0 friendly win over Russia in Moscow on Friday. Tite says that the fringe players will get their chance to impress ahead of the final squad selection in May.

“I will take my time to select players for the World Cup. Everyone has had a chance. I saw Pedro Geromel at his club and he has been in very good form for his club- he deserves a chance for helping his side to win the Libertadores.”

Tite also singled out Juventus winger Douglas Costa, who has forced his way back into the squad and made his first start since Tite took over in 2016 in Moscow, “When I met Douglas Costa at Gremio I told him he’d compete with Cristiano Ronaldo and he just said, ‘Okay,’ in a very natural way. He has all the qualities you want in a player.”
