Juventus left-back Alex Sandro has been drafted into the Brazil squad for friendlies against Russia and Germany next week, after Filipe Luis pulled out with injury.

The Atletico Madrid left-back went off in his team’s 5-1 win over Lokomotiv Moscow on Thursday night and tests showed that he has fractured his fibia.

The injury leaves Luis facing a race against time to be fit for the World Cup in June. In the meantime, Alex Sandro will take his place in the squad for next week’s games.

Brazil play Russia in Moscow on Friday and then travel to Berlin to face Germany the following Tuesday- Sandro will provide back-up for Marcelo for those games.

Filipe Luis and Alex Sandro have been fighting a very close battle to provide back up for Marcelo for this summer’s World Cup.
