With the start of the Brazilian national league just days away all the regional championships have now come to an end.

On Sunday Santos notched up their 17th Paulista championship beating São Caetano 2-0 at the packed Morumbi stadium. They entered the game 2-0 down but their superior league performance meant an aggregate draw was enough to secure victory.

The Carioca championship had to be decide on penalties after the Flamengo – Botafogo final finished 4-4 over the two legs. Flamengo won the shoot out 4-2.

Atletico Mineiro’s 4-0 first-leg victory against Cruzeiro meant they walked away with the Minas Gerais state title despite loosing 2-0 on Sunday.

Meanwhile Paranavai clinched their first ever Paranaense title beating Paraná 1-0 on agregate and Vitoria walked away with the Bahiano championship.

The final of the Gaucho title ended 7-4 as Juventude beat Grêmio and clinched their first state championship in 11 years.

The Brasileirão begins on Saturday.
