PSG midfielder Marco Verratti says he and his teammates will do everything in their powerto help Brazilian teammate Neymar Junior to win the Ballon D’Or.
The Brazilian joined the Ligue 1 outfit in the summer for a world record £198m, partly to stepout of the shadow of Lionel Messi who, with Cristiano Ronaldo, has monopolised the awardover the last decade.
Kaká was the last Brazilian to win it back in 2007 and ever since, Ronaldo and Messi haveshared the award. PSG midfielder Verratti says PSG are attuned to Neymar’s ambition towin it and will support him.
“Yes, I am behind Neymar. I think that he is doing everything for it. It is also why he is here –to help the club to develop and to further himself too.
"There is greater responsibility here and 'Ney' is somebody who likes that. He likes puttingthe team on his shoulders.
"I hope with all of my heart that Ney will become the greatest player. We will help himhowever we possibly can to achieve this."
