Ronaldo Backs Neymar for Ballon D’Or
Brazil legend Ronaldo says that it is a matter of time before his compatriot Neymar wins theBallon D’Or. Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo have monopolised the award over the lastdecade now.
World Cup winner Ronaldo thinks it is only a matter of time before Neymar wins it, withMessi and Ronaldo both into their 30s. Ronaldo won the honour twice himself, in 1997 and2002.
“I think that, each time, he's closer and closer to winning this individual prize. Even if thecriteria are variable and depend a lot on team performance. I'm sure he's close to it; 2018 isan important year. There is the World Cup in Russia where a lot of things can be decided.”
Ronaldo also says that the €222m move to PSG last summer has been to the player’sbenefit, “I haven't really spoken about it with him, but I think he has everything here to behappy," Ronaldo explained.
"He's in a marvellous city. He's in a team that plays very well, who've had a good start to theseason. Perhaps he's under a lot of pressure, but he's used to it. I think this project isincredible.
"He has everything to be happy and you can see that on the pitch. When he plays in arelaxed manner, happy, the results come. He pulls off great moves, scores beautiful goals.He gives joy to football.”
