Manchester United striker Romelu Lukaku says that former Inter Milan striker Adriano wasone of his boyhood idols. Adriano was considered one of the world’s foremost strikers littleover a decade ago.
Currently 35 years old and clubless following well documented issues with alcoholism,Adriano was once considered the latest great Brazilian striker- and he certainly caught ayoung Lukaku’s eye.
Lukaku told ESPN Brasil, “When I was little, Adriano was my great idol. Because when I waslittle, I had the same qualities as him.
“Very strong, shooting with the left was the same. I hope he’s going to play again becausehe’s a good player. For me he’s an idol. I like him a lot.”
Lukaku also revealed in the interview that he had picked up some Portuguese from formerteammates such as David Luiz at Chelsea, “I have a good relationship with people fromBrazil and I really like Brazilian players.”
