In a devastating blow for the club’s new manager Corinthians have been knocked out of the Copa Brasil.

They lost 2-0 at home to minnows Nautico in what was Carpegiani’s first game in charge.

In the first leg, under caretaker manager José Augusto , they threw away a two goal lead after Wilian was sent off, drawing 2-2.

With two-away goals a draw would have been enough to see them through to the quarter finals but it was not to be.

The goals came in the 15th and 45th minutes of the first half courtesy of Wagner Rosa and Acosta.

Fans turned out in force at the Pacaembu last night and for the most part showed their support. The game was even temporarily halted after one fan snuck on to the pitch to hug Mareclo Mattos in the first half.

The mood altered after the game however and a group of supporters tried to invade the changing rooms. Club security couldn’t cope and the military police were called.
