Former Manchester United assistant manager Ryan Giggs claims that he advised the club to sign a 16 year old Gabriel Jesus back in 2014.

Giggs worked alongside Louis van Gaal at the time and the Welshman and has recently been linked to the vacant Swansea manager’s position.

Giggs said he watched Jesus play in Palmeiras’ youth team alongside a United scout and advised the club to sign him. Giggs also claims to have watched Kylian Mbappe at the same time.

““I watched Gabriel Jesus play three years ago,” he told The Times. “I watched Mbappé for a year. I was watching them with the scout and it was a no-brainer.

“It was just like, ‘Get them.’ It would have been £5million or something — get them, loan them back — and that’s where the recruitment could have been better.”
