Coutinho Delights in Champions League Hat Trick
Liverpool’s Philippe Coutinho could not hide his delight after scoring a hat trick in the Reds’ 7-0 Champions League win over Spartak Moscow at Anfield on Wednesday evening.
The Brazilian was made captain for the night too, as Liverpool sealed their place at the top of their Champions League group and their first knockout round appearance since 2009.
“It’s my first [hat-trick] in the Champions League! I scored one hat-trick with Brazil but this was important as well,” he told Viasport.
“It was a really good night. Like always when we play at Anfield, the atmosphere was amazing. I always said the fans here are unbelievable. Today was a good day.”
Coutinho played from the left, with Salah, Mane and Firmino ahead of him and Coutinho enjoyed playing in the position.
“I enjoy playing – the left side or the right side doesn’t matter. I had to do what [the manager] asked in the position. Everyone did well,” he added.
“It was a good game, the team played very well and we deserved the result. We’re in the next round.”
