Brazil Draw Switzerland, Costa Rica and Serbia in World Cup Group
Brazil have been drawn in Group E at next summer’s World Cup in Russia, alongside Switzerland, Costa Rica and Serbia.
The Seleção were top seeds and will face Switzerland from Pot 2, Costa Rica from Pot 3 and Serbia from Pot 4.
It appears a nice draw on paper, but coach Tite is taking nothing for granted, insisting that Brazil must improve and study their opponents carefully.
“The one thing I know is that the Brazil team needs to grow stronger and more solid, regardless of who the opponents are,” Tite said. “We have to prepare our own tactical variations and adapt them to our opponents.”
Should Brazil qualify, they are likely to face either Germany or Mexico, depending on where they finish in the groups. But Tite was in no mood to look that far ahead.
“Let me save my energy for the variables I can control: putting in place good organisation and running good training sessions so that the players reach their best levels.”
Brazil legends Cafu and Ronaldo were also present at the draw and O Fenomeno was pleased with the draw, “We can be happy with the group we’ve been drawn. We totally have the means to finish on top. Other groups are tougher, ours is more straightforward. Tite has to be preparing his strategy.”
