Brazil to Use Tottenham’s Training Base Prior to World Cup, Confirms Edu Gaspar
Brazil’s Coordinator Edu Gaspar has confirmed that the Seleção will use Tottenham Hotspur’s training base in London as part of the team’s preparations for next summer’s World Cup in Russia.
The team will then be based in the city of Sochi for the tournament, which takes place in Russia. The ex-Arsenal midfielder also revealed that Brazil will look to play a friendly in Rio de Janeiro in May if the date of their first World Cup game allows it.
“It would be a farewell, a contact with our fans, we want to play a game in Rio de Janeiro. It depends on the draw, but it would be a polite thing, a kind of "now let's go together".
Speaking of the team’s base in Sochi, Edu confirmed, “I know the training centres well, but what they are doing there is incredible. It is a five star hotel with infrastructure, gym, adjacent fields.
“I have visited many "base camps", I can guarantee that ours is among the two best, if not the best It's a nice place to be, a fantastic work structure. We will build a gym in the hotel, there is a nice place for that, we can walk to the training ground.”
Edu also confirmed that the player’s families will be able to stay nearby, but not necessarily in the same complex as the squad. It is reported that Brazil will look to play a friendly in London in May too.
