Gabriel Jesus Pays Tribute to Retiring Zé Roberto
Manchester City striker Gabriel Jesus has paid tribute to his ex Palmeiras teammate Zé Roberto, after the 43 year old retired from professional football after Monday’s game against Botafogo on Monday.
Zé Roberto has enjoyed a storied career, playing for the likes of Bayern Munich and Real Madrid. He spent the final three years of his career at Palmeiras, where he won a Brasileirão title alongside Gabriel Jesus in 2016.
Jesus used his Instagram account to pay an emotional tribute to the 43 year old, “"It was an honor for me to play alongside him! A ‘craque’ on and off the field, it's no wonder he has won everything he has today. A brilliant career, worthy of much respect and admiration!
“Thanks for all our conversations and all those snack reviews! Football loses an incredible player, but thank you for representing the profession so well. I was already your fan, after I met you, I came to admire you much more. I'm your fan.”
