Neymar is a very talented player, there’s no doubt about that. The Brazilian possesses the skills and attitude to be a star no matter in what team he plays for and the natural question of why didn’t he win a Ballon D’or so far appeared. Well, it seems that he is thinking about that himself and that could be one explanation to the fact that he left Barcelona.

Jeremy Matthieu’s View on Things

One of the theories advanced by Matthieu himself is that Neymar had to leave Barcelona in order to step out of Messi’s shadow and have a real chance at winning the most-wanted title he misses in his stunning career. When he made the totally surprising move of going to PSG for a jaw-dropping 222 million EUR fee, a lot of voices said that this was due to the fact that he wanted to be the biggest star at his new club. But was this a good move for him? Since the last winner of the Ballon d’Or to come from a French team happened more than 20 years ago.

While at Barcelona, Messi won the title for five times while Neymar only managed a third place in 2015 with things going down for him last season when he got only the fifth place, being pushed down by Antoine Griezmann from Athletico Madrid. It just seems that the winner of the Ballon d’Or comes from Spain no matter how you put it. Last year title was won by Cristiano Ronaldo, followed by two of Neymar’s ex-teammates Messi and Suarez.

A Positive Start with PSG

He already put his mark on the way the club from Paris is playing, helping them register an awesome win against Celtic at the start of this year’s Champions League when they won 5 to nil. Things are also looking up for him in the French league with a lot of goals and assists. He is also a natural creator of dangerous attacks, no less than 10 of PSG’s goals started with him as the mastermind. But it just seems that he just can’t escape controversy no matter where he goes. The fact that the insisted on taking a penalty in their match against Lyon, in the disadvantage of Cavani. The latter won the duel eventually and things remained a bit weird between the two of them. This incident did not go unseen by the French press as well, with a lot of voices saying that his desire to be the biggest star of the club affecting his image.
Well, all this fuss around Neymar seems to go his way even with the controversy because with only a few months since he moved to PSG, rumours about other clubs wanting the services of the Brazilian international already appeared.

A Possible Move to Real Madrid

Well, even if it sounds like extracted from a Sci-Fi movie, apparently the rumour that Real Madrid might just be interested in his services can prove to be more than that. But how could such a possible move influence his chances of winning the Ballon D’or? In some way, it would be good for him to return to a strong championship like Spain that already gave the last 10 consecutive Ballon D’Or winners. Another good sign for him is that Cristiano Ronaldo finally seems to be leading to the end of his stunning career and Neymar is possibly the only one to properly take his place. But taking his place in Real’s attacking sector will also mean he’ll take his place on the top of Ballon d’Or voting list? That is totally up to him and the level he will play at. What we’ve seen from him at Barcelona and PSG is clearly not his maximum best and in such a great team like Real, with all the extra motivation of playing against his former teammates and with the support of a great team, this might just be the break he is looking for.

But until then, there’s still a lot of football to be played this season and, if Neymar manages to put together stunning performances with his current club, he just might get a shot at the title of the best player in the world while at PSG.  You can stay tuned on the amazing story of Neymar and what will happen with his chances at winning Ballon d’Or and also getting latest updates on weekend football tips by subscribing to this website.
