‘Tite has a big problem’ Alisson relishing Ederson tussle
Roma goalkeeper Alisson is relishing the fight with Manchester City’s Ederson for Brazil’s number 1 shirt. Alisson has been the Seleção’s first choice for the last 2 years, but Ederson has caught the eye since moving to Manchester City in the summer.
The City man started the last match against Chile in São Paulo. Roma stopper Alisson says that the coach will have a big headache over who to give the number 1 shirt for next summer’s World Cup in Russia.
“Tite has a big problem!” he joked. “I believe that the way he has been doing it is correct, playing players who he believes he should lay, doing some tests. It is also important to maintain a backbone, a base.
“But experimentation is valid, everyone when they get to the World Cup must be ready regardless of whether they have played or not. Training counts for a lot.”
The player says Roma’s Champions League performances are currently helping his case to keep the no.1 shirt, “We lead the group of death in the Champions League with Chelsea and Atletico. I continue to work very hard to increase my level, to grow in football and that the work is reflected in the National Team,“ he concluded.
