It was a good night for Brazilian players on the first night of matchday 3 in the Champions League group phase, with a number of Brazilians making their mark.

Roberto Firmino bagged a brace and Philippe Coutinho was on the scoresheet as Liverpool routed NK Marobor 7-0 in Slovenia.

Manchester City’s Brazilians made a similarly impressive contribution to their side’s 2-1 win over Napoli. Gabriel Jesus opened the scoring in that game, while goalkeeper Ederon saved a penalty, with Fernandinho scrambling to clear the resulting rebound.

In Rotterdam, Shakhtar Donetsk’s Bernard scored both goals, as the Ukrainian side came from behind to beat Feyenoord 2-1.

With the likes of Paulinho, Neymar, David Luiz, Filipe Luis, Alisson, Douglas Costa and Dani Alves in action for their clubs tonight, there promises to be further Brazilian involvement on Matchday 3 yet.
