Ronaldinho Gaucho has denied that Pep Guardiola decided to sell him during his furst summer at Barcelona. Guardiola took over during the 20078-08 season and the Brazilian departed for AC Milan in the summer of 2008.

Rumours abound that Ronaldinho’s party lifestyle and the emergence of Lionel Messi persuaded Guardiola to sell. But the Brazilian has broken his silence on the sale and insists that he decided to leave for Serie A.

"I was the one who decided I should leave Barcelona," he said in an interview with TV3. "I had already achieved my goals and I needed a change. I always got on well with Guardiola and I worked with his brother [Pere] at Nike."

Ronaldinho won a Champions League and 2 La Liga titles in his 5 years at the club and snapped up the Ballon D’Or in 2005 for his performances at the Catalan club.
