Neymar Reveals Palmeiras Affection
Paris Saint Germain star Neymar has revealed his footballing idols as a child were Palmeiras players. The Brazilian supported O Verdão as a child growing up in São Paulo.
Brazil recently trained at Palmeiras’ training ground as Brazil played Chile in the club’s Allianz Arena ground. And the ex-Santos forward admitted a boyhood affiliation for Palmeiras.
Speaking to their official website, Neymar said, “My story as a Palmeiras fan did not last long because I was very young, but my idols were Evair, Marcos, Rivaldo and Alex.
Neymar was pictured with a Palmeiras jersey underneath his Brazil training top earlier this week and the club have even begun to sell shirts with the player’s name and number on them.
This despite the fact that Neymar came through at nearby Santos. Neymar even admitted he would like to play for the current Brasileirão champions some day.
“Nobody knows what tomorrow brings, but it would be a huge pleasure to play for a club like Palmeiras. I was ‘Palmeirense’ as a child and I always loved the green shirt.”
