Brazil boss Tite has confirmed that Manchester City goalkeeper Ederson will be given a chance to impress in Tuesday night’s World Cup qualifier against Chile in São Paulo.

Roma stopper Alisson has been Brazil’s number 1 for the last 2 years, but Ederson’s form in goal since joining City from Benfica this summer has caught the coach’s eye.

"I will tell you that I talked to the two players [Alisson and Ederson]. I talked to Taffarel [Brazil’s goalkeeping coach]. Alisson plays this game [against Bolivia] and Ederson, against Chile."

Brazil have already qualified for the World Cup and begin preparations for next year’s tournament in Russia. Ederson will compete for the number 1 shirt with Alisson in that time.

Tite says the next 8 months will be used to prepare for June 2018, "I sleep thinking about the World Cup and not today. My whole life was spent on taking the smallest possible step. We cannot always control results, but we can control performances," he explained..
