Real Madrid midfielder Casemiro will take the captain’s armband when Brazil play Bolivia in La Paz on Thursday night, as Tite continues his policy of rotating the captaincy.

It’s the first time the Madrid man has taken the armband, having become a crucial component of the Seleção midfield. Brazil have already qualified for next year’s World Cup in Russia.

Speaking at the pre-match press conference, Casemiro said, “It’s an immense pride for me to be captain of the national team. Just being here is already a source of pride. I have no words to describe how happy I am to be captain.”

Meanwhile, Flamengo playmaker Diego has pulled out of the squad with injury. Tite called up 24 players and is only able to name 23 in his matchday squad, so a replacement will not be called.
