Chelsea goalkeeper Thibault Courtois says that striker Diego Costa was under appreciated in the Premier League. The striker spent three seasons with Chelsea, winning two Premier League titles and a League Cup.
Courtois was a teammate of Costa’s when he spent two seasons on loan at Atletico Madrid, whom Costa will rejoin in January, with a fee brokered between the clubs this week.
Chelsea and Atleti face one another in the Champions League this week and looking ahead to the game, Courtois said, “I was with Diego for six seasons and he is a good friend of mine. It will be beautiful to see him again at Atletico Madrid.
“Diego was an attacker undervalued here in England, “he said. “People were paying a lot of attention to if he was a bad player on the pitch instead of looking at his quality. He’s one of the best and funniest people I know,” he said.
Speaking ahead of his return to Madrid, the Belgian added, “It will be special to return, only this time I hope to win. It will be different not to go to Vicente Calderón, but they needed a new stadium, it will be a special night for me.”
