Danilo Relishing Being Part of City’s Brazilian Contingent
Manchester City’s new signing Danilo says that the presence of three other Brazilian players at the club has helped him to acclimatise to life in England. Danilo joined the club from Real Madrid during the summer.
Goalkeeper Ederson also joined City this summer, adding to City’s Brazilian colony, with Fernandinho and Gabriel Jesus already at the club. All four players are in the Brazil squad for October qualifiers against Bolivia and Chile.
Danilo told UOL Esporte, “Brazilians have the ability to adapt very quickly to any type of situation, Gabriel doesn’t speak English, but he can communicate with everyone even in Portuguese, which is an important influence to cheer up the changing room and make the environment a bit lighter.
“The DJ is Fernandinho, since he’s been at the club for many years, so we have to respect him. The most popular Brazilian song is that from Revelação. The lads like this one a lot. Even Guardiola got excited on the plane.
“He’s a guy who has interest in other cultures and for the history he has with Brazilians, you can see that he really likes our culture. Once when we had the day off he joked: ‘Run to get the caipirinha out of the body!’”
