Ex-Arsenal forward Julio Baptista could be set for a surprise return to England with Championship club Bolton Wanderers. The Brazilian spent a season on loan with the Gunners back in the 2006-07 season.

He has also played for Sevilla, Malaga, Cruzeiro and has been clubless since being released by MLS side Orlando Pride earlier this year. The 35-year old insists he is not ready to retire yet and he has piqued the interest of Bolton.

Baptista has been on trial with the club, training with the academy. According to BBC Sport, he featured in Bolton’s U-23 match against Queens Park Rangers on Monday evening. Bolton are thought to be weighing up a move once the player regains full fitness.

Bolton currently sit 24th in the Championship and with the transfer window now closed, they can only reinforce with players that are not currently under contract at other clubs, a bill which Baptista fits.
