35 year old Julio Baptista has been linked with a surprise move to League One side Bolton Wanderers. Baptista is currently a free agent, but impressed in a summer 7 a side tournament for ex players.
Baptista, who had been released by MLS side Orlando Pride, gave several interviews indicating his desire to continue playing and according to the Sun newspaper, the player could be set to join Bolton.
The Brazilian would be allowed to sign outside of the transfer window as he is currently not attached to a club. Baptista made his name as an attacking midfielder at Sevilla, where he was nicknamed “The Beast” for his imposing frame.
From there, he earned a move to Real Madrid, before spending a season on loan at Arsenal in 2006-07. He struggled to make an impression in England and returned to Spain, before spells with Cruzeiro and with MLS side Orlando Pride.
