Coutinho in Contention for Manchester City Trip
Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp says that Philippe Coutinho will be considered for the team’s crunch match against Manchester City this weekend. The Reds face City at the Etihad Arena on Saturday lunchtime.
Coutinho has not played for the club this season with a summer of speculation over a move to Barcelona. The Spaniards submitted three bids for the player, all of which were rejected, despite the fact that Coutinho submitted a transfer request.
The forward came off the bench in both of Brazil’s World Cup qualifiers in the last week and the player arrived back at ‘Pool’s Melwood training base on Thursday, alongside compatriot Roberto Firmino.
Klopp told Liverpool.com, “It’s a little bit different,” the manager said. “Roberto played in the second game a little bit longer, but both are fit so that’s cool, they’re healthy so now we have to see.
“It’s of course different because Phil, I know what people think, but Phil had the back problem a few weeks ago and couldn’t train so that means he missed around about three weeks. “
