Brazil centre half Thiago Silva said that Brazil could be encouraged with their World Cup qualifying draw away at Colombia in Barranquilla, especially in light of the conditions.

Colombia opt to play home qualifiers in the humid city of Barranquilla in the middle of the afternoon and the PSG defender insists that, along with a bumpy, dry pitch, made the game more difficult.

Brazil were already guaranteed top spot in the qualifying group, but these are the first points they have dropped under the reign of Tite.

“We missed a bit on the cross for the goal,” he admitted, “But this is a lesson for the next games.” Silva came into the side in place of the injured João Miranda. On the conditions, Silva was slightly less sanguine.

“It was a very complicated game in every sense: the time, the pitch, which was not so good, the absurd heat. So, it is a bit inhumane to play. But, fortunately, we remained calm. Mentally, we were very strong. This prevailed in the result.”
