Liverpool have included Philippe Coutinho in their official squad for the Champions League group stages. The Brazilian eventually stayed with the club, despite persistent interest from Barcelona all summer.
Coutinho is currently away with Brazil, where he scored the Seleção’s opening goal in a 2-0 victory over Ecuador in Porto Alegre. Reports suggest that Coutinho was crestfallen that the move from Liverpool to Barcelona did not materialise.
Barcelona made three offers for the player, all of which were knocked back by Liverpool. Coutinho submitted a transfer request the day before the season started. The player has yet to appear for the Reds this season due to an apparent back injury.
Liverpool have submitted their official squad to UEFA for the Champions League group stage and Coutinho’s name has been included, which backs up Jurgen Klopp’s assertion that the player is still on good terms with the manager and will be fully integrated into the squad.
