Firmino Set to Start in Place of Gabriel Jesus for Brazil
Liverpool forward Roberto Firmino is set to start for Brazil against Colombia in Barranquilla tonight. With the Seleção guaranteed top spot in CONMEBOL qualifying with three games to spare, coach Tite will begin to experiment.
Firmino has been in excellent form for his club this season, with three goals already. He is set to start in place of Gabriel Jesus who will be rested. Firmino was in Tite’s starting line-up in open training in Manaus on Sunday.
He will play with Chelsea’s Willian and PSG’s Neymar alongside him, with Philippe Coutinho still set for a place on the bench. Manchester City midfielder Fernandinho also featured in the starting line-up in training, in place of Real Madrid midfielder Casemiro.
Marcelo is suspended and Miranda injured, so Filipe Luis and Thiago Silva will also be drafted into the team. The line-up Tite tried in open training on Sunday was as follows: Alisson, D Alves, Marquinhos, Thiago Silva, Filipe Luis, Fernandinho, Paulinho, Renato A, Willian, Neymar, R.Firmino.
