Chelsea’s wantaway striker Diego Costa is nearing an agreement to rejoin old club Atletico Madrid. The Brazilian has been in Brazil all summer, refusing to train with Chelsea in an attempt to force through a move.

Costa was close to rejoining Atletico last summer and agitated for a move to China in January. Chelsea boss Antonio Conte managed to persuade Costa to stay and win a second Premier League title with the club, but told the striker he was surplus to requirements in May.

The player wants to go back to Atletico Madrid but the situation is complicated with Atletico under a transfer embargo until January. The Mirror is reporting that a £30m deal is close, but Atleti now need to find a club to loan him to until their transfer ban has expired.

The Spanish club are allowed to buy him, but cannot play him until after January 1st. Everton are considering taking him on loan, while Ligue 1 club Marseilles are also said to be considering making an approach.
