Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp admits that the ongoing speculation over the future of Philippe Coutinho is difficult to manage. Liverpool knocked back a bid of £114m from Barcelona on Friday for the player.

It’s the third bid that the club have turned down this summer, but the player has handed in a written transfer request, so keen is he to join the Catalan club. The Brazilian missed Saturday’s 1-0 win over Crystal Palace with a back injury.

Klopp confesses that the situation has been tough over the last few weeks and he does not know if and when Coutinho will be reintegrated into the team, “At the moment, as you can imagine, it’s not too easy for anybody.

“But we have to be concentrated on the job on the pitch, and I really think the boys did brilliantly today. I don’t think that it makes sense to think too much ahead, what can happen and when.

“The situation is like it is, and it has not changed, that’s all I know. When there is no other decision possible – on the 31st of August – then we have to think about everything new.”
