Wijnaldum: ‘Everyone Wants Coutinho to Stay’
Liverpool midfielder Georgino Wijnaldum says that everyone at Liverpool is desperate for Philippe Coutinho to stay at the club. The player submitted a transfer request last week amidst interest from Barcelona.
The Catalan club have had bids of £70m and £90m rejected, with Liverpool insistent they won’t sell. But Coutinho rocked the club on Friday by submitting an official transfer request, confirming his desire to join the La Liga giants.
Following the Reds’ 2-1 win over Hoffenheim in their Champions League qualifier on Tuesday, Wijnaldum told Sky Sports, “Everyone wants him to stay. But no one can look in his head or make decisions for him.
“He has to make the decisions for himself. So, it's difficult to speak about it and give an answer. He knows what I want, but it's his decision, we'll see what happens." Coutinho missed the victory in Germany with a back problem.
