Liverpool Release Statement on Coutinho
Liverpool’s owners Fenway Sports Group have released a statement regarding the speculation surrounding Philippe Coutinho. The player has been subject to two bids from Barcelona, the most recent one for around £90m.
Reds boss Jurgen Klopp has been unrepentant all summer that the player would not be sold, but with the £198m fee received for Neymar from Paris Saint Germain, Barca have escalated their interest in recent days.
However, in a statement on the Liverpool website, FSG insist that the player is absolutely not for sale, “We wish to offer clarity as regards our position on a possible transfer of Philippe Coutinho.
“The club’s definitive stance is that no offers for Philippe will be considered and he will remain a member of Liverpool Football Club when the summer window closes.”
Manager Jurgen Klopp reinforced the message in his Friday press conference, saying, “When FSG say something like this it's 100% clear. You can read it.”
