Richarlison Closes in on Watford Move
Fluminense’s highly rated 20 year old forward Richarlison is on the brink of a surprise move to Premier League side Watford. The Brazilian has been courted by some of Europe’s biggest clubs and looked to be close to a move to Ajax.
But Watford appear to have gazumped the Dutch giants with a €12.5m bid. According to Globo, the player is already en route to Hertfordshire to complete the deal and play under new Hornets boss Marco Silva.
Richarlison has 10 caps for Brazil’s U-20 side and has 17 goals in 41 appearances for the Rio club. Fluminense are looking to bring in some revenue and the deal to sell Wellington Silva to Bordeaux fell through last week after the player failed a medical.
Chelsea were also thought to be interested, but the Hornets swooped in after Ajax pulled out of negotiations over the weekend. Watford will hope the presence of veteran goalkeeper Huerelho Gomes and Portuguese speaking manager Marco Silva will smooth his transition.
