Chelsea youngster Robert Kenedy has been sent home from Chelsea’s tour of Asia, after making disparaging remarks about China in one of his social media accounts.
The young Brazilian posted some messages on Instagram that translated variously as “**** China!” and, next to a picture of a sleeping security guard, he posted “Wake up China, idiot!”
The club posted a full apology on their website apologising for the player’s remarks. Chinese newspaper The People reacted angrily to Kenedy’s comments.
“China does not welcome a player like this; nor does China welcome a team like this. Kenedy’s absurd comments are not only impolite but also uneducated. He has created an incident that has humiliated China, an incident that so many fans simply cannot tolerate.”
The player has been sent back to London and will miss the remainder of the tour. Having spent an unsuccessful loan spell at Watford last season, a sale seems likely.
