Diego Costa is to be omitted from Chelsea’s pre-season tour of Asia, almost certainly signalling the end of his time at Chelsea. The Brazilian signed for the Premier League champions 3 years ago and has won 2 Premier League titles.

Costa wanted to move back to his previous club Atletico Madrid last summer and agitated for a move to China in January. Blues boss Antonio Conte managed to persuade him to stay for the title run-in, but a move now seems inevitable.

Conte supposedly texted Costa soon after the season to tell him Chelsea won’t rely on him for next season. The Blues went after Everton’s Romelu Lukaku, but the Belgian opted to move to Manchester United instead.

Costa has been linked with a move back to Atletico Madrid, though he would not be eligible to play until January due to Atletico’s transfer ban. Sky Sports report that Costa won’t be part of the travelling party for Asia this weekend, so he can finalise the transfer.
